Day of General Election.

Unanimous support for the decision of the Associated Chambers of Commerce to urge that the General Election* should be held on a Saturday was expressed by the council of the Canterbury chamber last evening. It was reported that it would be pointed out to the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) that to hold the election on a week day would interrupt production and complicate payment of wages. With a fairly general 40-hour week, most people had leisure to vote on a Saturday. The national associations of employers and manufacturers would be fesked to support the representations.
