CUSTOMS DUTY
INCREASE RECORDED AT GREYMOUTH COLLECTIONS FOR JULY The collections under all headings at the Customs Department office, Greymouth, last month totalled £33 276/17/-, an increase of £7055 17/5 on the £26,220/19/7 collected in July last year. The principal increases in the collections from individual items were in respect to sales tax and beer duty. Details of the collections under the various headings last month were as follows (the corresponding totals for July last year in parentheses): —Customs, £5362/3/1 (£4762/7/2); beer, £5127/1/5 (£2938/18/6); sales tax, £15,844/1/7 (£9493/10/7); gold, £4619/11/9 (£6708/1/2); petrol, £2262/10/6 (£2159/10/-).
