“Feeling Crept- In”

The Rugby Union, England, is inclined to be a bit like the United States Supreme Court—rather long in the tooth. That the affiliated clubs are not entirely satisfied with this state of affairs was made plain at •the recent annual meeting of the union. The London Daily Telegraph reports that “feeling crept into the proceedings and one came away with the impression that the introduction of younger blood into the management . . . was considered desirable by a large percentage of the 200 clubs represented.” The accounts showed that England’s matches against Wales and Scotland last season yielded a net profit of over £15,000, after nearly I £14.000 had been paid in entertainment tax. The Twickenham property has been written down to under £30,000, while £50,000 is on loan to clubs for the purchase of their freeholds. The county championship is being resumed next season and it is possible that all matches will be played on Saturdays.
