World Swimming Record.
A Dutch woman, Nel van Vhet, broke the world’s 100 metres women’s breaststroke record, covering the distance in 79.45ec. The previous record was 79.8 sec, established by a German, Giesela Grass.—The Hague, July 30.
Golf Title. Alex. Murray, New Zealand's leading professional golfer, may not defend his championship title at the national meeting in October. During the course of the recent Waikato open tournament he said there was a possibility he might not compete at Hokowhitu. So far, anyway, he has not entered for the professional tourney to be held at the Feilding Golf Club’s course just prior to the New Zealand championship meeting. Entries have been received from Alf.
