THE WEATHER Forecast: Occasional Rain
The following weather forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon to-day:— Situation: A ridge of high pressure covers New Zealand; a cold front is over the Central Tasman and is moving eastwards. Forecast to 5 p.m. to-morrow: North-easterly to northerly winds, fresh at times; weather cloudy to overcast with occasional rain: temperatures moderate. Further outlook: Showery westerly conditions. LOCAL RECORDINGS 9 a.m.: Barometeer, 1005; thermometer, 43; wind, easterly (moderate breeze); sky, overcast with intermittent drizzle; bar, moderate swell; rainfall, 0.46 inches. (The total rainfall to date this year is 51.63 inches.) The depth on the bar at high water yesterday was 26ft. 4ins.
