ACTIVITY IN GERMANY’S BLACK MARKET (Rec. 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 30. On the eve of issuing new currency to British troops in the British zone to check the black market activities of citizens of Hamburg it was revealed to the British military authorities, that Germans had already forged £250,000 worth of the new issue, ol “Milgov” notes, says the Evening News. Field security police and German police are checking this information. The new notes, which were printed in England, as well as plastic pennies and halfpenny coins, had been delivered to the field cashier for issue on August 1. The voucher plan aimed to prevent troops from selling theii rations to German civilians at blackmarket prices,
