DRAFT SAILS FROM LYTTELTON

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 31. Approximately 2600 New Zealanders, constituting the second section of the replacement draft of New. Zealanders for occupation duties in Japan, sailed from Lyttelton in the Chitral to-day. Included in the draft were 1013 men from Burnham, the remainder coming from Papakura and the Army School of Instruction, Trentham. The Chitral, which had taken the North Islanders on board at Wellington yesterdav, arrived at Lyttelton shortly after"B.3o, and the embarkation of the South Island personnel was completed ahead of schedule. Several hundred people waited outside the barriers at the entrance to Gladstone pier to say farewell to the men on board.
