ARRESTS IN POLAND
POLICE BREAK UP PEASANT PARTY ACTIVITIES LEADER TO LOSE POWERS WARSAW. July 23. The leader of the Peasant Party, M. Mikolajczyk, has announced that the Polish police, have arrested 500 members of the party in the Rzeszow district and suspended party activities throughout the district. _ This is the seventh district organisation broken up by. the police. “The Polish Cabinet has suddenly decided to deprive the Minister of Agriculture (M. Mikolajczyk) of. _ a considerable amount of his administrative power,” says the Warsaw correspondent of the Times. “All land reform and agricultural planning boards under the new decision no longer come under his direct control but arc placed under the authority of county and district governors.”
