TRIAL OF FORMER GERMAN
COMMANDER
(Rec. 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, July 29. The trial opened at Brunswick today before the British War Crimes Court of General Nikolaus von Falkenhorst, German commander-in-chief, Norway, on charges of handing to the Gestapo 38 British commandos and six Norwegian sailors and giving an order that no quarter should be given to commandos. ° Pleading not guilty, Falkenhorst said: “There is nothing in the Geneva Convention concerning the treatment of saboteurs. Hitler gave the order and he must accept full responsibility for everything wh-ich occurred.”
