REEFTON 11, 131 TONS OF COAL IN FOUR WEEKS

Reefton coal mines for the four weekly period ended July 27 produced 11,131 tons of coal for consignment from Reefton railway yards. This compares favourably with the quantity mined for five weeks to June "29, which was 13,422 tons. Production for the week ended July 27 was 2.599 tons, a reduction oh the previous week’s figures caused by shipping space shortage. At least two mines had to cease production for part of the week because of this, and the bad weather also, affected, the output, blocking the outlet road from one coal mine for some years. x VISITORS TO FOOTBALL

Many Reefton .residents visited Greymouth to-day for. the England v. West Coast League football match. There were numerous passengers on the rail-cars and road traffic to Greyinouth from all over the Inangahua district was heavy. PERSONAL

Mrs. J. L. Wicken is visiting Christchurch.

Mr. Whitnell has arrived to take temporary charge of the St. Stephen’s Parish, Reef ton, during the absence of the vicar, the Rev. V. L. Leaning, who is making a good recovery from his illness.

Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Humphries are visiting Nelson, where Mr. Humphries is attending the annual synod of the Nelson Diocese. RUGBY FOOTBALL
