A message from Orlando (Florida; states that a world altitude record for two-place gliders was claimed at the Pincecastle army airfield by Paul Tuntland, who soared to 18,700 feet above the release point from a tow plane of 22,700 feet above sealevel. The present record of 14,960 feet was set by the late Major Lewin Barringer in 1940.
