KEY THAT OPENS IT. So far only Mr. F. Langstone, M.P., the financial dictator of the New Zealand Labour Party, has fully revealed why the Bank of New Zealand is to be made a State-owned concern. It is so that State ownership can be rapidly extended in-all directions, ip. order completely to control the jobs and lives of the people. In case there is still anybody who thinks that what Mr. Langstone says is one man's “hot air,” and does not really represent what Labour as a whole is seeking, the following quotations from Australian Labour politicians and others will be revealing:— _ Rt. Hon. J. H. Scullin said: “Socialisation was an essential of Labour’s platform, and the details were to be worked out as the movement progressed. Banking was one of the more important features wherein Socialisation was needed.”

Mr. Forgan Smith, ex-Labour Premier, Queensland, said: “Banking reform was the key of the citadel.” | Mr. J. T. Lang said: “You must remember there are always first steps. You must socialise credit first. The other things will come later. If you want to go through the door you must have the key first. Socialisation of credit is the key.” Lenin: “We are all agreed that the first step in this direction (i.e., Communism) must be such measures as; | the nationalisation of the Banks. Let. us put into practice these and similar measures,' and we shall see. We canInot at once either nationalise the small consumers’ concern —i.e., one or itwo wage workers —or place them I under a rqal workers’ control.
