- BULLER DEFEAT COAST, Tn a representative basketball match at Westport oh Saturday Buller B defeated West Coast B by 10 I goals to 8, after an even contest, j Inter-school, basketball matches | I were also played at Westport on Saturday, Greymouth Technical High School A team easily defeating West- | port A by 19 goals to 5. The Westi port B team defeated Grey Tech B by only 13 goals to 12, after Grey had been down by six goals at halftime. CONVENT O.G. V. ST. MARY’S. Two teams from the Convent Old I Girls’ Basketball Club travelled to (Hokitika yesterday where they met ; the local teams in friendly games, i St. Mary’s A 9 v. Convent Old Girls i IA 8. The score was a fair indication of the run of the play. St. Mary’s ap- | peared to settle down quicker and j were able to assume a lead early in the game; however, when C. O. Girls finally began to combine they began [to field the goals accurately. St. i Mary’s strength definitely rested with i their defence, but the Convent Old Girls centres had the edge. The [jumping and interception of the Conivent Old Girls’ team was good and i in that respect they opened the eyes . of the local girls. ! Convent Old Girls B 19, v. St. Pat- ! rick’s 12. The Convent were too strong in all bases for the opponents who, however, forced their opponents to fight for every goal.
