Matches between the Hokitika District High and Marist Brothers’ High Schools were played at Hokitika yesterday. The Hokitika first fifteen won by 14 points to 13. For Hokitika Young scored, three tries and Stoop converted one and kicked a .goal from a penalty. Conaghan (2) and Breeze scored tries for Marist and Garforlh converted two. The Swedish runner, Guilder Haegg, established a new world record for the mile, with the time of 4min 1 2-5 sec. Arne Anderson finished second in 4min 2sec. Anderson established a record last year with 4min 1 3-ssec.
