SHAEF AND JOURNALIST. NEW YORK, May 9. ’ Mr. Kent Cooper announced he has appointed W. E. Gallacher as act-ing-Chief of the Associated Press Bureau in Paris, succeeding Kennedy. Cooper explained this action was taken without prejudice to Kennedy pending a full investigation. CITIZENS’ THANKSGIVING
There was a good attendance at the Regent Theatre, Greymouth, this afternoon for the citizens thanksgiving service conducted by . tne Council of Christian Congregations. The occasional address was given by Rev. T. G. Campbell. Rev. A. J. Templeton offered prayers of confession, thanksgiving and supplication, followed by the Lords Prayer. Adjutant O. L. Ojala and Mr S. H. Sofield read the Lessons, and Rev. P. Kirkham offered prayers of commemoration and dedication . Last Post was sounded, and Rev. 1. it. Page, who was chairman, pronounced the Benediction. AT ST. PATRICK’S CHURCH There was a large congregation ar St Patrick’s Church, this afternoon, for the special Holy Hour to mark (>e cessation of hostilities in Europe. Special prayers were offered, and tne •m-vice also included Exposition oi the Blessed Sacrament solemn le tJeum. recitation of the Rosary, and Benediction.
