WEST COAST UNION

The Management Committee of the West Coast Rugby Union met last evening, Mr T. Mclntosh presiding, and it was decided that to-morrow at Rugby Park, a game between Greymouth and Hokitika representative sides be played, the proceeds to be donated to the patriotic fund. If the Hokitika team could not be arranged it was decided to select a team, from returned members of the Second N.Z.E.F., to play the rest of Greymouth, Mr A. Agnew to be the sole selector of the N.Z.E.F. side. The Star Club advised that they had granted Hokitika clubs the use of their pavilion. The Buller Union wrote in connection with home ’and home and Seddon Shield games, the first to be played on June 16. The matter of petrol for transport of the representative team was left to the secretary (Mr O. McLean). An application received for readmission to the code, was forwarded to the New Zealand Union, with a favourable recommendation. The Celtic Club nominated a fourth grade team. It was decided to write to the New Zealand Union, suggesting that it write to the British Rugby Union to send a Services’ team to tour Australia and New Zealand next year. Championship competitions will commence next Saturday, there being two rounds in the senior- competition, four in the juniors, three in the third ' grade and two in tne fourth grade. „ „ The following are the fixtures for Saturday:— SENIOR Star-United v. Blaketown, Park No. 1, 3 p.m. (N. Eggelton). Celtic v. Ruatapu, Park No 2, 2.45 (E. O. Harding). . St Mary’s v. Cobden, at Hokitika, .juniors: Celtic v. Blaketown, Park No. 2, 1.30 (J. B. Hogarth). Third grade: 'Cobden v. Celtic, at Cobden, 3 p.m. (A. Agnew); Technical v. Blaketown, Park No. 1 (R. Haglund). Fourth grade: Celtic v. Star- ( United, at Cobden, 1.30 (C. Cockburn).

PATRIOTIC MATCH. The following teams have been selected to play a match for patriotic purposes at Rugby Park at 2.45 p.m. to-morrow: — . R.S.A.: G. Nelson, H. Mettnck, A. Thomson, Vv. Rea, L. The Canterbury Union has approved June 4 (at Greymouth) and June 16 (at Christchurch) as . dates for matches with the West Coast this season. The Union also approved June 2 (at Westport) and July 7 (at Christchurch) for matches with Buller.
