Johnson has sacrificed an ear to cure a dcficienc.y in her daughter, Dulcie, now aged 14, who was born without an e3 The mother’s ear was removed and grafted on to the daughter at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital on May 5. The daughter entered hospital in January. This was for a preparatory operation to create a passage to the eardrum. Mrs. Johnson had her right ear removed four days after she was admitted to hospital. The daughter’s hearing has always been normal.)

Mrs. Johnson said, “I let them trans-

fe- my ear to Dulcie’s because her school mates teased her. I found she was Decoming self-conscious about her disfigurement.” She added that she was slad to make the sacrifice, as she felt it would make'her daughter’s life happier.
