CAMPAIGN HONOURS
AWARDS TO NEW ZEALANDERS
WELLINGTON, June 13. The Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) has been advised that the King has approved the following immediate awards for gallantry to members of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force serving in the Middle East:— Distinguished Conduct Medal Lance-Sergeant H. Manahi, Maori Battalion. Wife, Mrs A. Manahi, Ohinemutu, Rotorua. Lance-Sergeant Manahi is 26 years of age. He went overseas with the Maori Battalion in 1940 and has been on continuous war service ever since. He was wounded in May, 1941, but remained with his unit. Bar to Military Medal Signalman G. J. Nilsen. Father, Mr C. H. Nilsen, Nelson. Signalman Nilsen went overseas with the 3rd Echelon and was awarded the Military Medal in November, 1941. He is 24. Military Medal Sergeant W .R. Brown. Mother, Mrs E. Brown, Christchurch. Sergeant Brown is 23. He went overseas with an early reinforcement draft. Corporal A. G. Davies. Mother, Mrs S. Davies, Coromandel. Corporal Davies is 23. He left New Zealand with the 3rd Echelon.
