WRESTLING

ATKINS AND MEEHAN DRAW

AUCKLAND, August 11. One of the most exciting wrestling matches seen in Auckland took place to-night when Fred Atkins, of Australia, drew with Pat Meehan, of America. Each man obtained a fall. Meehan was awarded a penalty fall in the fourth round when Atkins made use of his knee. Atkins drew even in the seventh round when, after a succession of elbow jolts, he lifted his opponent for a slam and a body press. The crowd, which almost filled the Town Hall, was wildly excited as the men strove throughout the final round to gain a deciding fall. CORBETT DEFEATS KENNETH.

WELLINGTON, August 11. In a display of scientific wrestling in the Town Hall to-night, Joe Corbett (America) beat Ken Kenneth (New Zealand) on points after each had seepred a fall. Kenneth took the first fall with a drop-kick and a body-p’ress in the fourth round and Corbett evened in the sixth round by taking a fall after a series of flying tackles. Kenneth made a favourable first appearance in the Wellington ring, but the American had just a trifle too much experience for the New Zealander. MATCH AT~GREYMOUTH. Pat Meehan and Joe Corbett have been matched for a wrestling match at the Greymouth Town Hall on Saturday evening next.
