DUTCH GOVERNMENT

TRANSFER TO WASHINGTON ?

BATAVIA, July 8.

A section of the East Indies House of Representatives is suggesting the transfer of the seat of the Dutch Central Government from London to Washington. These members point out that Washington at present is the centre of world politics, and state that the United States Government decides the implementation of the East Indies defence provisions. Authoritative sources here stated that Dr. H. J. van Mook, head of the East Indies Economic Bureau and chief of the Netherlands trade delegation in the recent negotiations with Japan will soon visit Britain via the United States to discuss important south-west Pacific problems with the Dutch Central Government, including the question of the transfer of the Government to Washington.
