TENNIS
COBDEN CATHOLIC CLUB, A Catholic Tennis Club was formed at Cobden as a result of a meeting held this week. Father Gregory, who presided, said that the new tennis court at the school would be ready for use in about a fortnight. The following officers were elected: —Patron: Father J. Long; president: Father Gregory; vice-president: Mr W. P. Moore; club captain: Mr R. Dixon; vice-captain: Miss P. BarloW; secretary-treasurer: Mr F. Simmonds; committee: Misses C. Morresey, E. Jackson, I. Finlay; Messrs A. Phillips, W. G. Butler, F. Millar; honorary vice-presidents were also elected. In view of the fact that only one court would be available, it was decided to limit the membership to 35, and the following were elected: — Mesdames O. Morris, Glen, Bell, Martini, Misses E. Jackson,- B. Morresey, C. Morresey, P. Barlow, J. Barlow, R. Phillips, R. McGuire, I. Finlay, M. Butler, J. Raleigh; Messrs T. Wood, F. Simmonds, A. Watkins, W. Baird, C. Jackson, F. Millar, E. McDonnell, J. Barrett, W. Moore, R. Dixon, A. Phillips, L. Uddstrom, J. Jeffries, M. Morresey, R. Barlow, O. Morris] W. J. Butler, W. G. Butler. It was decided to hold the opening day on December 15.
St. Columba v. St. Mary’s, Hokitika, on the St. Columba courts, tomorrow, 11 a.m.: Curnow, Butler, King, Sommerville, Simons, Byrne. Reserves: Bendall, Shannahan. Misses Fahey, Bell, Close, Clarke, and Mesdames Wareham and Sommerville. Reserves: Misses McGrath, Fauth.
