HIGH STANDARD REQUIRED | ; NEW YORK, November 17. i A high standard of. mental and physical capacity is demanded by the « War'Department of volunteers for the | Parachute Battalion, which is now, l being' trained in Georgia. Officers and }men must be in the best condition physically, and capable of daring and quick thinking. Men, who are assigned to the actual jumping will re-
ceive higher than normal pay. Volunteers are being accepted from army infantry regiments. Orders to commanding officers of regular army units who. will provide additional men for the battalion, now in its skeleton stage, provide that they shall choose men on a basis of demonstrated soldierly qualifies, agility, athletic ability, intelligence, ' intiative, determination and daring. Applicants must also possess sufficient education to enable them to absorb rapidly instruction in map reading, sketching, radio-demolition, and other specialised subjects.
