ADDRESS BY LORD GALWAY [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, December 9. The Governor-General (Lord Galway), in an address to the Otago Provincial Patriotic Council, explained the organisation of the Patriotic Funds Board for assisting all branches of the fighting services. Referring to the loss of the Doric Star. Lord Galway said that New Zealand must face losses with equanimity and replace these goods through minimum wastage in every home, so that' the maximum amount ci’ meat and wool would be available for export. It was said by some that the war would not last long and that the blockade would soon bring the collapse of Germany’. This was a wrong view to take. The war would only end when the German machine was not only bent, hut broken. The war had tn he brought to a definite conclusion.
