A message from Ottawa says that the British steamers Manchester Regiment (5,989 tons) and Oropesa (14,118 tons )collided in a fog off the Nova Scotian coast. The former was abandoned. Nine are missng. The Oropesa. suffered slight, damage. The Ore.pesa carried the crew of the British freighter Chancellor (4.067 tons), which sank in a collision with the Athelchief on December 2. The survivors have landed from ’he Manchester Regiment and the Chancellor. The Chancellor sank first, and the Manchester Regiment took on 42 survivors, after which she collided with another ship. Nine of the Manchester Regiment’s crew are believed to be missing.
