A ’bus carrying 34 persons fell through a decayed bridge. Twenty were killed, and the rest were injured.

AWARD FOR GALLANTRY

Mr. Jordan presented Frederick lan Baker, of Dunedin, with the Royal Humane Society’s vellum testimonial, for gallantry in attempting to save the life of a drowning boy at Lowestoft, on Julv 30.
SWISS LEGATION IN DUBLIN
RUGBY. November 6
It is officially announced in Dublin that the Swiss Consulate-General in Dublin has been raised to the status of a Legation.
AUSTRALIAN STRIKE.
SYDNEY. November 7
The Bellbird, one of the largest of the northern collieries, from which coal for Sydney gas is supplied, and Cessnock No. 1 have been added to the list, of mines idle as a result of the engineers’ strike.
