One of the most-momentous conferences in India’s political history opened at the Viceroy’s residence, when Lord Linlithgow met Mr. Gandhi, Mr. Prasad (President of the Congress), and Mr. Jinnah (President of the Moslem League). This is the first time the Viceroy has met party leaders. Aftei’ a round-table conference, the three leaders conferred privately. A communique said that a discussion of a general character took place, after which the meeting was adjourned.
