WOMEN POLICE

NEW ZEALAND INVESTIGATIONS [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WANGANUI, November 2. Explaining in an interview, to-day, the position regarding the appointment of women police in New Zealand, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. D. J. Cummings, who is visiting Wangnaui, said that much would depend on the type of candidate offering, if it were decided to appoint women to the Force.

Legislation had been passed, last year, giving authority for the appointment of women. He had investigated the system thoroughly on his recent visit to Australia, and had made a. report, to the Minister in charge of the Police. Department. (Mr. Fraser). The Minister would, himself, make further investigations during his visit to England. When he returned, the question of making appointments would be considered.
