When the tritl’n stopped one of the' carriages stood with two trucks ranged alongside. Further along the train, beside the front, carriage, lay two more 1 trucks. The- horsebox contained a Clydesdale champion, and it was- necessary to use an axe to release the horse, which was not scratched. Although considerable damage was done to the track, the express was able to get through, arriving at Invercargill an hour and a half late.
