MONTHLY MEETING HELD. [OUE OWN COBBEBPONDENT.J NELSON, . April 15. The Nelson Land Board met on Thursday; present; Mr. P. R. Wilkinson, Commissioner of Crown Lands (chairman) and Messrs. A. R. Edwards, J. O’Regan, W. .Blackadder and F. W. Gibbs. The following applications were dealt with:—Part Section 8, Block Vi.ll, Maruia S.D., area 78 acres approximately, renewal lease. (Applicant, R. S. Hayes).—lt was resolved .to grant a renewable lease title of part section 8, Block VIII, Maruia Survey, district at a capital value of £6O, and a rental of. £2 8/- per annum under Section 144 of the Land Act. 1924, subject to Section 153 of the Land Act 1924. Messrs. A. R. Thompson, J. D. Somerville, and J. Clayton, Section. 2, Block 11, Mawheraiti S.D., area 607 acres, R.L. —It was resolved to decline applications, and to recommend that the area be withdrawn from selection. .

P. R. Ryan, Section 7.6, Town of Carter’s Beach, one rood 2.7 perches, R.L. —Approved. Estate of F. W. Thorp, Section 22,, Block VII and-part section 14, Block IX, Kaiteriteri S.D., area 1,017 acres. —lt Wtis, resolved to’ grant .a/grazing license from year to year at a rental of £lO per annum. ■ W. F. Moss, Section 102, Block IX, Kaiteriteri S.D., 202 acres two roods 16 perches.—lt was resolved to grant a grazing license over Sections 102 and 103 Block IX, Kaiteriteri Survey District from year to year at a rental of £l5 per annum.

L. C. Baigent, Section 6, Block X, Wai-iti, 731 acres, two roods. —Grazing right for six weeks from 13/4/39 at a rental of £2, granted.

Robert Craig, Sections 3, 4 and 5, Block VII, Waitahu S.D., 100 acres.— A year to year grazing right from 1/4/39 at a rental of £6 per annum was granted.

Application to remove trees by H. G. Green from Section 23, Block X, Tadmor, 305 acres.—A permit was granted to remove two trees, royalty 10/-; permit fee 2/6. Land to be re-offered: Section 22, Block VII and Part Section 14, Sections 102 and 103 Sq. 9 Block IX, Kaiteriteri S.D., 1,417 acres two roods 20 perches (formerly W. H. Widdowson). —lt was resolved that the area be not opened. Transfers: Section 1 and 2, Block VI, Tadmor S.D., 439 acres two roods, Phillip H. Bromwell to C. P- Boyd.— Confirmed. Section 143, Westport Colliery Reserve, 1621 perches, R. Patterson to J. H. Johnston. —Approved. Cancellations: 80 acres in Block XVI, Mokihinui, H. F. B. Johnston. — License cancelled as at 31/12/38, at request; Section 6, Block XVI, Mokihinui S.D., 26 acres one rood 37 perches, H. F. B. Johnston. —License cancelled as at 31/12/38, at request. Forfeiture: Section 9, Block VI, Motueka, 80 acres 17 perches, A.R., £1 12/-, arrears £5/12/-, G. W. Goodman. —The lease declared forfeited. Exemption from residence: Section 32, Block X, Wakapuaka Survey District, 200 acres, Thomas WestleyGranted. Section 33, Block X, Wakapuaka Survey District, 210 acres, 13 perches. Jessie Nianza Westley.— Granted. Section 12, Block IV, Takaka Survey District. 305 acres, Melville J. Lindsay.—Granted. Section 53, Block XI, Mawheraiti Survey District, 300 acres, B. L. Petterson. —It was resolved to offer renewal for a term of 21 years from 1/1/40 at a rental of £4/10/- per annum, and to classify as second class land. Sections 13 and 14, Blocks XIII and XIV, Reefton Survey District, 207 acres two roods 39 perches, Thomas Kearns. —It was resolved to offer renewal for a term of 21 years from 1/7/40 at a rental of £5 per annum and to classify as second class land. Section 29, Block V, Tutaki Survey District, 25 acres, C. H. Gibson. —it was resolved to offer renewal for a term of 21 years at a rental of 16/- as from 1/1/1940, and to classify as second class land. Section 1, Block IX, Matakitaki, 480 acres, C. Downie, junr.—lt was resolved to offer renewal for a further term of 21 years as from 1/1/1940 at a rental of £8 per annum. Recission of renewal: Section 15, Block VIII, Mawheraiti Survey District, 119 acres, Patrick Hayden—lt was resolved' to rescind a resolution of 13/9/34 to grant P. Hayden a year to year license over this section from 1/7/34 at an annual rental of £l/8/-. Section 1, Block IX. Matakitaki Survey District, 480 acres, Chas. Downie. junr.—Granted. Sections 197 to 202, Block IV, Aorere S.D., area 150 acres, William R. Riley.—Granted.

Expiry and renewals: Section 24, Block XII, Mawheraiti Survey District, 191 acres 22 perches, estate Alexander Doig.—lt was resolved to offer renewal for a term of 21 years at a rental of £2/8/- per annum as from 1/7/40, and to classify as second class land. Section 25, Block XII, Mawheraiti Survey District. 57 acres, Mrs. M. J. Bannan.—lt was resolved to offer renewal for a further term of 21 years at a rental of £2 per annum as from 1/7/40, and to classify as second class land.

Classification of land: Sections 24, 25. Block 11, Steeples S.D.. 56 acres 2 Roods 35 perches, Walter B. Mclntyre. —lt was resolved to classify the area as second class land. Expenditure of fifths: The State Forest Service submitted proposals for the expenditure of “fifths” in favour of the undermentioned Counties for the period ended 31/12/38: —Takaka County Council £7/5/7, Buller County Council £4B/12/1; Waimea County Council 8/10-; Inangahua County Council £34/3/8; Collingwood County Council £ 1/2/10.— Approved. The" Board also dealt with 11 items in committee.
