A London cablegram announced the death of the Salvation Army Commissioner, Mrs. Lamb, aged 75 years.

A cablegram from Larissa stated that Queen Geraldine of Albania has completely recovered and has left hospital.

Mr. A. Walton left, this morning, for Wellington, at attend a conference of the Post and Telegraph Officers’ Guild.

Mr. ’and Mrs. G. Yardley and Miss J. Yardley, who have been on a holiday visit to Mr. and Mrs. T. Freeman, Tainui Street, will leave by to-mor-row’s express fen route to Auckland.

Passengers by Cook Strait Airways’ West Coast service to-day were: — Greymouth-Wellington: Mr. and Mrs, W. Loughton; Greymouth-Nelson: Mr. B. Tighe, Miss D. Pretorius and Mrs. O. E. Thurburn.

Mr. 11. T. R. Dale, manager of the Janies mine, has been appointed Inspector of Mines and Quarries at Duutly. Mr. P. M. Outhwaite is act-ing-manager of the James and Strongman mines.

A Sydney cablegram reported the death of Rev. William Joseph O’Leary, formerly Director of the Riverview Observatory, and a leading authority on earthquakes. He was aged 70 years, and collapsed and died while playing golf, yesterday, at Ryde.

The death occurred at Christchurch on. Saturday, of Mrs. Emily Ives, wife of W. J. Ives, aged 61 years. Deceased formerly resided in Greymouth, where her husband was proprietor of the Central Hotel. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, and one son. The funeral will take place at Christchurch, to-morrow'.

The death occurred on Saturday, of Mr. James George Andrews, of Nelson Creek, aged 58 years, after a brief illness. He was a native of England, and had no relatives in New Zealand. He had resided in Nelson Creek for the past 12 years, and served with the Imperial forces in the Great War. The funeral took place this afternoon, at Karoro Cemetery, Rev. Father Holohan conducting the service.

Mrs. Margaret Williams McClytnont died at the residence of her daughter, at Reefton, to-day. Deceased, who was 86 years of age, was a native of Cornwall. She was a pioneer settler of the Tnangahua district and had resided in Reefton for 61 years. She was a foundation member of the Reefton Methodist Church. Mesdames Thompson and Dobson (Reefton) are daughters, and Howard (Reefton) §nd Stephen (Waiuta) sons. Her husband died many years ago.

The death occurred at Woodville, on Friday, of Mr. Robert C. Tennent, a native of Rio de Janeiro, aged 90 years. He arrived in New Zealand in 1864, and later joined the staff of the Bank of New South Wales, retiring after 53 years’ service. He was a champion mile runner, and represented Nelson at cricket, rowing and football. He leaves two daughters and six sons, the eldest of whom, Leonard (Tanganika), and the youngest. Dr. Alan Tennet, of Wellington, met last year for the first time. Mrs. A. V. Olivei’ (Greymouth) is a niece of deceased.

The wedding was solemnised at St. Thomas’s Church, Runanga, on Saturday evening, of Merleen Agnes, third daughter of Mr and Mrs H. J. Werner, Duncllie, and Walter, eldest son of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. Vaughan, Cobden. Rev. W. Osborne-Brown performed the ceremony, and the organist was Mrs. F. J. Smith. Mrs. A. Ellery, sister of the bride, was matron of honour, and Mr. L. P. Mills was best, man. The bride was presented with a silver horseshoe, as she left the church, by Colleen niece of the bridegroom. A reception was held

at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. Ellery, Dunollie. The death occurred at her residence Murray Street, this morning. of Mrs. Susannah Cox, wife of Captain F. W. Cox, who recently retired from the position of Harbourmaster at Greymouth. Deceased, who was born at Farewell Spit 64 years ago, had resided in Greymouth for many years. She had been ill for only the past week. Resides her husband, she is survived by three daughters. Mrs. M. Fowler (Gore), Mrs. F. Winder (Dunedin) and Miss Iva Cox (Greymouth), and two sons, Frederick (Wellington) and Alec (Greymouth). She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. M. Page (Wellington) and Mrs. W. Anstice (Auckland). The funeral will take place on Wednesday, leaving the residence at 2 p.m. for the Karoro Cemetery.
