■ A brief discussion on the quality of ' bank notes took place at a meeting of the council of the Invercargill Chamber of Commerce when the Associated Chambers of Commerce (Wellington) advised that it had received a letter from the Minister of Finance (Mr. Nash) stating that special attention would be given, when another issue of bank notes was made, to suggestions for alterations to the colour and additions to the denominations of notes. “Why worrk about the quality of the paper when the notes don’t stick to you long enough?” asked the chairman (Mr. W. Grieve). He added that the present notes were not wearing as well as the old ones. Another member expressed the view that quality was more important than colour, and a third remarked that the quality seemed to outlast his needs.
