SHIPPING NOTES.
Kiwitea sailed on Saturday afternoon, for Wellington. She is to return on Friday, to load coal and timber for Auckland and Portland. Gael, en route from Bruce Bay to Wellington, called at Greymouth early yesterday morning. Gabriella arrived early yesterday morning, from Westport, and is loading coal and timber for Miramar. Kakapo is loading coal and timber for Wellington, and is to sail to-night. Rata is due to-morrow morning, from Westport, to load coal and poles for WaikokopU and Gisborne. Titoki is due to-morrow night, from Tarakohe, to load coal for Tarakohe and Nelson. Poolta is due on Thursday, with cargo from Lyttelton, and will load coal for Wellington. Matthew Flinders, with Australian cargo, is due about Thursday from Auckland and Wellington, and will load timber for Sydney. NAVIGATION WARNING. The Postmaster, Hokitika, advises the Chief Postmaster ’at Greymouth as follows: —The harbourmaster at Hokitika reports that an exceptionally large tree, portion of which is projecting four feet above the water, was sighted at 1.40 p.m,, 2i miles west of Hokitika bar, drifting northwards, and creating a danger to navigation. AT OTHER PORTS. WELLINGTON, February 27. Arrived on 26th at 5.30 p.m., Kiwitea, from Greymouth.
