LOSS ON INDIAN TOUR.

[PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.]

CHRISTCHURCH, February 6

A financial statement, showing a net loss of £96/7/7 on the tour of the Indian hockey team, was presented by the secretary (Mi* W. H. Down) at a meeting of the management commute of the New Zealand Hockey Association this evening. Mr H. S. J. Goodman presided. The Chairman salid that, the loss was caused entirely by the wet weather during the greater part of the tour, and' during the second and third test matches. The tour, however, he said, had been of great benefit to hockey in the Dominion, and was well worth the small financial loss involved.

A letter was received from the In-

dian Hockey Federation expressing thanks for the excellent way the Manavadar team had been entertained during its visit. The federation had also placed on record that one of the results of the tour was the strengthening of the two units of the British Empire.

A copy of alterations made to the rqles of the game was received from the English Hockey Association. The alterations provided for the elimination of hooking sticks, and also prohibited the use of the foot for stopping the ball.

A letter was also received from the International Hockey Federation, with headquarters at Paris, advising that the alterations had been made to the rules without the permission, of the federation.

After a long discussion the meetingdecided to adopt the amended rules for New Zealand hockey during the coming season.

It was also decided to write to the Australian Asoociation advising it of the committee’s decision with a view to having the amendments adopted throughout Australia and New Zealand.

In reply to a letter, the meeting decided to advise the Australian Association that it would not be able Io invite an Australian team to New Zealand before 1940, and that the matter would be considered later when arrangements for the New Zealand Centennial celebrations were being discussed,
