RIFLE SHOOTING
GREY DEFENCE CLUB. The first competition for H. Higgins and W. M. Garth’s trophies were fired off on the Cobden range yesterday. A slight south-west wind prevailed, but a bad light and low-lying fog made sighting conditions difficult, particularly on the 600yds. Despite the difficult conditions, some fine scores were registered. President S. Davy scored 100 off the rifle, his fifth for the season. C. Ramsey registered 99 off the rifle, including a fine possible at 300yds. The following were the leading scores (conditions 7 shots at 300, 500yds and 600yds, and' two optional sighters):—
