SHIPPING NOTES. Alexander arrived early yesterday morning, from Picton. She is to sail to-morrow, with timber for Port Waikato. Rata arrived early this morning, from Wanganui, and is to sail at 11 o’clock to-night, with coal and poles for Nelson and Tarakohe. James Cook is duo this afternoon, from Lyttelton, to load timber for Melbourne. Poolta is due at 8 o’clock to-night from Lyttelton, with cargo, and will load for Miramar.
Totara is due at 10 o’clock to-mor-row morning, from Gisborne, and will load coal for Wellington. She is to return on February 13, to load coal for Gisborne. Karu is to leave Wellington to-day with cargo for Greymouth, and is due to-morrow evening, to load timber for Petone and Wellington. She is to return, again to load timber. Kakapo is to leave Wellington on Wednesday for Greymouth, and is due on Thursday, to load coal for return. Hokitika is expected to leave Wellington at noon on Wednesday, with cargo for Greymouth and Hokitika, being due here early Friday morning. Gael is to leave to-morrow for Jackson’s Bay and Okuru. Omana is to leave Auckland to-day, with cargo for Greymouth, and is due on February 13, to load timber for Meland Adelaide. Kaimiro is due on February 13, from Portland, to load for Auckland and Portland. Matthew Flinders is to leave the northern ports (Australia) this week, with hardwood for New Zealand, and is due at Greymouth about February 20, to load timber for Sydney.
