KIDNAPPED FOR LOVE

"ONLY FOR A DAY”

LONDON. June 23

A woman’s affection for a two-year-old boy led to her appearance at Falkirk Sheriff Court yesterday. Mrs. Jean Thompson, of Maddiston, Stirlingshire. admitted stealing the son of Annie O’Donnell from a playground.

It. was stated that Mrs. Thompson at the mother’s request, kept the child from the age of seven weeks. When the mother desired his return Mrs. Thompson had to be compelled to give him up by order of the Court. On Friday the child disappeared, and Mrs. Thompson was arrested in Edinburgh with him in her possession. For Mrs. Thompson it was pleaded that her intense love for the child tempted her to steal him. although it was onlj’ for a day. She was on her way back when arrested. Sentence was deferred until December.
