BRITAIN’S INDUSTRIES

LONDON, August 7.

Striking evidence of Britain’s industrial vitality is afforded by figures showing an increase of £275;000 a week in full-time wages during the first six months of 1936.

The “Daily Telegraph” says that there has not been a similar record of consistent improvement for 12 years. It is computed that the total wage increases for the year will exceed £35,000,000.

KING’S HOLIDAY.

King Edward, piloted by Flight Lieutenant E. H. Fielden, Captain of the King’s Flight, flew to Calais anil boarded the Strasbourg-Vienna express. He will join the yacht Nahlin, in which he is going to cruise in the Mediterranean, on Monday. LONDON, August 9.

Harrison has been appointed commander of the Second Anti-aircraft Division, which is to be formed to provide further anti-aircraft defences for the Midlands and the North of England with units of the Royal Artillery and infantry of the Territorial Army, as announced last month.
