The first : bull had been about five minutes in the ring when one of the toreadors slipped and fell in front of it. Before he could rise the animal gored him savagely. -When at last it was driven off, the man had received two deep wounds in the side and one in the thigh. He died while being carried to the first-aid room attached to the ring. Meanwhile the bull became infuriated by the excitement, and charging the door of its stall, burst the lock, and bolt, and escaped. For some minutes, great alarm prevailed, as the streets were thronged with people. Fortunately, the animal mado for the adjoiningfields.
