CANADIAN YOUTHS WIN. [L’EB I’BEHS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, December 8. The Canadian schoolboy athletes competed against Auckland secondary schoolboys and in open company in a meeting at Auckland Domain this afternoon. The weather was fin©, with a strong wind blowing down the ground. The time for the 100 yards, therefore, into the teeth of the wind, was good. The visitors Were successful in all events except one, that being the high jump, in which Hackett, the Auckland and New Zealand champion, was successful. The local schoolboys were outclassed by their brilliant opponents' in every event confined to their class. Results were: 120yds Hurdles: —Zizis (Canada) 1, Finlayson 2, Oruickshauk 3. Won easing up by three yards. Time 16 2-5. 100yds.—McPhee (Canada) 1; Elliott 2, Savage (Canada) 3. This was a, splendid race. Thirty yards from the tape, Elliott was racing on terms with the two Canadians. McPhee finished strongly into the teeth of the wind, to win by less than a foot, Savage being inches behind Elliott. Time 10 1-5. High Jump.—Hackett (Auckland) 6ft lin 1; Jansen (Canada) and Chadwick (equal) sft 9in 2. Hackett won at sft 10in., and then he cleared 6ft- . 220yds.—McPhee (Canada) 1; Elliott 2, Zizis (Canada) 3. The field raced in close order for 150yds, McPhee then drawing away to win. by nearly two yards. Zizis was inches behind Elliott, who slowed, down near the tape. Time 22sec. 440yds Secondary Schools. —Lemon (Canada) 1; Fleming (Canada) 2; Clarke 3. Won by a good yard, Clarke being nearly two yards away. Putting the 121 b Shot, secondary schools. —Wares (Canada) 46ft 7in, 1, Coxhead 41ft lin, 2; McHugh 39ft, 9i in,., 3. • , , s Broad Jump.—Richardson (Canada) 22ft sin 1; Prendergast 20ft 10*in 2, Brown 20ft 7Jin, 3. 880yds Secondary Schools.—Mitchell (Canada) 1, Ferris (Canada) 2, Stephenson 3. At half way Ferris led by a yard from his team mate, who then went into the lead, and opened up a gap of five yards. Ferris made a great effort in the. straight, but was beaten by two feet, the third man being 20 yards away. Time 2.3 1-5. Hop, Step, and Jump—Richardson (Canada) 43ft 9in, 1; Wares (Canada) 40ft sJin, 2; McGregor 40ft sin, 3. 440yds Secondary Schools’ Relay.— Canada No. 1 (McPhee, Richardson, Savage Zizis) 1; Auckland 2, Canada No. 2, 3. Won by 40 yards; seven yards between second and third. Time 43 2-5.
