SCHOOL COMMITTEES

KUMARA. The unfavourable weather seriously affected the attendance at the Kumara householders’ meeting, on Monday night. Four members of the old committee, the Mayor, the headmaster, and one other citizen attended, the Mayor (Mr. H. Hamer) presiding. The balance-sheet, presented by the secretary, Mr. T. Walker, showed a credit of £8 18s Bd. Mr. D. A. McLean (chairman) reported that a piano had been secured for the school, and was proving very useful. ’ The school gardens had been splendidly kept, while the paths, and stone work in preparation, would enhance the appearance of the school. Lack of finance was the cause of the delay in finishing the football ground. He commented favourably on the teachers who were recognised as very capable and efficient. The new committee was elected as follows:—Messrs. J. Reedy, D. A. McLean, T. V. Walker, Ivor Steel, and H. Hamer. Mr. D. A. McLean was re-elected chairman and Mr. T. W. Walker (secretary.

KANIERI.

At Kanieri the following committee were re-eleceted:— Messrs. F. W. Selby (chairman), A. R. Elcock, T. R. Chesterman, E. Howat and Harvey. WOODSTOCK. The following committee was elected at Woodstock:—Messrs. E. T. Stoop (chairman), R. C. Wells (secretary), J. Corsan, E. J. Mills and J. Simpson. ROSS. Five nominations, the required number, were nominated for the Ross School Committee, and they were declared elected as follow:—Messrs. H. Osniers, A. A. Donaldson, J. Holmes, P. Douglas and A. W. Peebles. Mr. Osmers was appointed chairman and Mr. Peebles, secretary-treasurer. KAIHINU. The five nominees for the Kaihinu School Committee were declared elected: —Messrs. A. Richards (chairman), W. Dove (secretary), H. Finch, C. Cook and J. Finch.
