With a view to helping people through the maze of new laws and regulations, 2000 offices have been opened, at which free legal advice is being given by Nazi lawyers.
NAVAL ATTACHE’S DEATH.
ROME, April 16.
The Japanese Naval Attache in Rome, Commander Ohtani, was found hanged in a bedroom in a Naples hotel.
O.G.P.U. DISBANDED
LONDON. April 17.
The “Daily Herald” says: The process of disbanding the Russian O.G.P.U. has begun. Nobody, in future is to be sentenced without trial in open court. There is only one exception, as the new Commissar of the Interiar has the power to deport undesirables from one part of the Soviet Union to another part, for a period limited to three years. M. Stalin considers the stability of the regime secured.
APPLES STORAGE.
LONDON, April 17
“If apples are sent to sleep during the Winter, they cannot get into mischief, but remain pure and fresh,” say experts at the Royal Agricultural Show, at Westminster, where are featured apples which, last September, were put into a chamber filled with carbon-monoxide. When recently opened, it was found that their flavour and condition were perfect. The method is a vast improvement on cold storage.
COMMUNISTS EXECUTED.
BERLIN, April 17.
The continuous pealing of the Ploetzensee prison bell after six this morning, was an indication that the executioner was busy beheading four young Communists, ages ranging from 22 to 31, who had long terrorised Berlin. They raided banks and shops in the manner of Chicago gangsters, and finally made onslaughts on the Nazis and Storm troopers of whom nine were seriously injured.
WHEAT SAVINGS.
ROME. April 17.
The Wheat Conference accepted the United States proposal to reduce the 1935/6 wheat sowings. The Conference is to meet in London in June or August to discuss the details.
