AMBASSADOR’S RETIREMENT
TRIBUTES TO LORD THRRELL [BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.] RUGBY, April 16. Lord Tyrrell’s long and distinguished career as British Ambassador at Paris ends to-day. He will return to London to-morrow.
Sir J. Simon, in a telegram to Lord Tyrrell says: “His Majesty’s Government wish me to express to you their sincere thanks for your manifold invaluable services. I should like to add the expression of my own gratitude for all the advice and assistance which you have afforded to me while I have been Secretary of State. Your constant contribution in maintaining and furthering Anglo-French relations are deeply appreciated by your fellow countrymen.” Lord Tyrrell replied: “I deeply appreciate the generous message from his Majesty’s Government and beg you to accept for yourself and convey to your colleagues my great gratitude for their appreciation of iny services. I very much regret the decision imposed upon me by my health, to sever my official relations with you, which always aimed at the maintenance and the promotion of Anglo-French relaltions, so vital to the maintenance of the peace of the world.”
