GRAFT ALLEGATIONS. [-BT CABLE —PBEBB ASSN. —COBYBIGHT.] NEW YORK, April IG. A message from Fargo, in North Dakota states: In most serious charges of graft and corruption within the Federal civil works, administration of the State Government, William Langer, member of the socalled “Non-partisan League,” with eight other party leaders, has been indicted in the Federal Court on a charge of forcing C.W.A. workers to contribute part of their pay to finance political activities, including publication of the campaign paper. The indictments charge violation of two laws, coercing Federal employees into making political contributions and interference with an Act of Congress. It was said that Langer had long used similar methods with State employees, but there was no complaint until it spread to Federal v- orkers. GRAIN PRICES FALL. NEW YORK, April 16. A wave of liquidation, believed to have been induced by pessimistic reports relative to silver legislation, and to rumours of the dumping of grain holdings by large operators, drove down grain prices to-day, for the first time for many weeks. The legal limits for one day’s fluctuations were reached. Wheat, rye, and barley were off about five cents a bushel; coin was down four cents, and oats three cents. May wheat closed at eighty cents, July 80 1-8, September 81 1-8. SALES OF HOMES.
NEW YORK, April 16.
A message received from Oklahoma City stated: In what is believed to be
an unprecedented action for a State Governor to take, Governor William (“Alfalfa Bill”) Murray, of Oklahoma,
has sent National Guard troops into
eleven counties to prevent, by force if ' necessary, the sale of homes for unpaid taxes. Governor Murray declared: “The protection of the homes of the people in stressful times like these is a vital polifcy, transcending any temporary loss of taxes.” All of the County treasures, when threatened by the military with arrest, cancelled the advertised sales of homes. :
