ANGLICAN SYNOD
BIBLE CLASS MOVEMENT. - [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] HASTINGS, April 16. The General Anglican Synod resumed its session at Napier, to-day. A motion, moved by Archdeacon Whitehead (Dunedin), and discussed in committee, was passed, as follows: — “That the Bench of Bishops be respectfully requested to consider the permissive use of Holy Communion by intinction, and if their Lordships think it expedient, to issue instructions to the clergy, regulating such permissive use. Following a lengthy discussion, a motion orginally including a. provision to the effect that from January 1, 1936, the General Synod should be responsible for £5OO per annum to assist the work of Bible Class Unions, was redrafted. Tho motion, as eventually carried, provided for an expression of appreciation of the development of the movement, and requested the Archbishop to constitute a Youth Council of the Church of the Province of New Zealand, to foster and develop the work of the Bible Class Unions and all other youth movements in the church. The speakers on the original motion pointed out that the Synod was not in a, position to make itself responsible for £5OO for three years.
