REEFTON, April 17
The funeral of the late Mrs. M. Morresy took place on Sunday, moving from the late residence, Buller Road, to the Suburban Cemetery. The services were read by Rev. W. F. Evans, of Knox Church. ' The interment was private. An invitation for a Tin of players from the Reefton Bowling Club to visit Westport for the 21st inst., has been extended by the Westport Club. Messrs. C. Nevin, C. H. Clever, J. B. Auld, and T. L. Lloyd have been selected to represent the Reefton Club. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Carter, who have been visiting relations in Reefton, left on return to Franklin Junction today. Mr. J. McMyn, who is an inmate of the hospital at Greymouth, is showing a slight improvement. Waratah met Ikamatua at Rugby on the Reef ton Racecourse on Sunday, and the local team -were defeated, the scores being nine to nil. A tennis match was played between the Black’s Point and Wesley Tennis Clubs, at the former’s court, on Saturday, with the folowing results, Black s Point being mentioned first: — Men’s Doubles: F. Millar and J. Rylev v. Sharpe and Dellaca, 6-4; A. Sara aiid W. McHenry v. Parsonage and Baird, 3-6; E. Fitzgerald and B. McHenry v. Chettle. and Smith, 6-3. Ladies’ Doubles: E. Bolitho and A. Fitzgerald v. Mesdames Ecklund and Lawry, 5-6; M. Kremmer and R. McHenry v. Mesdames Lawry and Potter, 4-6. Combined Doubles: F. Miller and E. Bolitho v. Sharpe and Ecklund, 5-6; A. Sara, and M. Kremmer v. Dellaca and Lawry, 3-6; J. Rylcy and A. Fitzgerald v. Parsonage and Potter, 6-3; W. McHenry and Miss McHenry v. Baird and Mrs. Potter, 4-6; E. Fitzgerald and Miss Bolitho v. Chettle and Mrs. Ecklund, 3-6; B. McHenry and Miss M. Kremmer v. Smith and Mrs. Lawry, 5-3 (unfinished). Weslev —11 sets, total games 53, won 7: Black’s Point—-11 sets, total games 51, won 4. The ladies’ and men’s singles, could not bo played on account of darkness setting in. The death has occurred at the residence of his niece, Mrs T.. Patterson, Reefton, of Mr William Geddes, aged 74 years, a resident of Millerton. He had been in bad health for some time. He came to Reefton and attended the funeral of his sister, Mrs Moonie on Sunday, and while returning from the funeral, collapsed with shock, and died this morning. He had been a resident of New Zealand for 51 years. At native of Scotland, he arrived at Dunedin. He was a . resident of Brunner for some years, and afterwards was a well-known figure at Denniston. He is survived by his widow, who is in poor health, two daughters, and four sons. A daughter and a son are resident at Wellington, and the remainder of the • family are at Millerton.
