TROTSKY’S INTRIGUES
PLOTTING AGAINST SOVIET. [BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN. —COPYEIGHT.] LONDON, April 16. 1 M. Leon Trotsky, who has unexpectedly been found living in France, though he had been thought to be in Corsica, is residing in a villa at Barbizon that is the headquarters of the Fourth International. This is a superBolshevist movement, with a worldwide scope, by which M. Trotsky aims to oust the present Russian regime. The villa is that of a famous artist, situated near Fontainebleu. M. Trotsky visited Royat last year, when M. Litvinoff (Soviet Foreign Minister) was staying there, after which he disappeared. He at first gave the name “Leon Socrov,” but he admitted his identity when questioned. The villa, is luxuriously furnished, and is equipped with maps, filing cabinets and dossiers. An enormous correspondence is being conducted, direct to Paris, per motor-cycles, thus dispensing with the local post offices.
It is also believed that Trotsky is in communication with London, Brussels, Madrid, America, and India. The French authorities may request Trotsky to return to Corsica.
