The loyalty of the British Government to the League of Nations, and its ideals, is emphasised in a declaration made at the National Conference, in defence of the League, by the Post-master-General, Sir Kingsley Wood. He declared: “I come here officially, as a, member of the present National) administration, and assert again, if it. is necessary to do so, that the National Government stand firmly by the League, as the corner-stone of their policy.”

Six small Powers, Sweden, Holland, Switzerland, Denmark, Spain and Norway, have sent a message to the League, expressing the opinion that there is no prospect of a large-scale disarmament agreement, and urging the conclusion of a convention limited to certain branches of armaments which convention the nations must sign or else incur the moral condemnation of the others. STUDENTS’ DEMONSTRATION. NEW YORK, April 13. Thousands of college and secondary students throughout the nation observed a one-hour strike from their classrooms, to-day, as a demonstration against war and international Fascism. SECRET DOCUMENT PUBLISHED GENEVA, April 15. The League Secretariat has ordered an inquiry into the loss of a. secret document on the Saar, which has been published in German and Swiss newspapers. It is believed that it was stolen from the League offices.
