England opened Saturday and at the end of the day’s play the scores were: Singles:—Hopman (Australia) beat Wilde 6/1, 6/3; McGrath (Australia) beat Lee 6/0, 61/1; Hughes (England) beat Turnbull 6/4, 6/1. Doubles: —Perry and Lee (England) beat Hopman and Quist 3/6, 6/4, 6/2.
