REEFTON NOTES

[OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.} REEFTON, November 8. Miss Dorothy Heslop, of the nursing staff of the Grey River Hospital, who has been spending her annual leave at home, has returned to duty. Joseph Griffen, a son of Mr and Mrs N. B. Griffin, of Buller Road, was burnt about the face on Saturday when a cracker which he was holding exploded. The lad also suffered an injury to one of his eyes and received medical attention. He is making good progress.

The annual meeting of the Reefton Swimming Club was held last night in the band-room. There was a good attendance. Mr George Lockington presided. The report and balancesheet were read and the latter was confirmed. Officers were elected as follow:—Patron, Mr K. J. Holyoake, M.P.; President, Mr Rae; vice- presidents, Dr. Marshall, Messrs A. G. Wills. W. S. Pratt, ,C. Lawn, E. Nicholson, W. H. Morris, F. W. Archer, T. Dellaca; secretary-treasurer, J. Dellaca; club captain, Mr G. W. August; coach, Mr J. Crossman; committee, Messrs Clarke, Crossman, C. Coxall, W. Lockington, E. Black, Father Spring.. It was resolved that applications be called for the position of caretaker. Subscriptions for the season were fixed at 5/- for adult members, intermediate tickets 2/-, children 1/-, tourist, tickets 2/6 for 14 days; nonswimming members 5/-, with free admission to all carnivals; also that the committee be recommended to ,set aside special swimming hours for ladies; also that Mr Keesing be elected an honorary member of the club, and that appreciation of this gentleman’s services to the club be recorded.
