RECORD POLICE GATHERING. [FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, November 7. The greatest galaxy of police talent ever assigned to any criminal investigation in New Zealand, is now engaged on the Ruawaro mystery. Since ths arrival on Saturday of Inspector Cummings, of the Commissioner’s Office, Wellington, -numerous conferences have been held by Commissioner Wohlmann, Superintendent Till (Auckland) and Inspector Ward, who arrived from Wanganui, yesterday, and Inspector Cummings. Two large fast cars, hired for an indefinite period, to-day, left for Ruawaro, carrying the Superintendent, two Inspectors, three detectives, two sergeants and ten picked constables. In addition, detectives and constables from other districts, even as far south as Palmerston North, and Wellington, are understood to have joined the already large force at Ruawaro. Close secrecy is being observed and no hint is given by the police as to the cause or motive of this latest development. The body of Mrs Christobel Lakey was found in a duckpond at her home at Ruawaro on October 15, and a search has ben conducted continuously ever since for her husband, whom the police believe to be dead.
